Design
The D 6LCR needs a rear-channel surround sound signal to really come into its own. Part of the D 6 series of THX Ultra speakers, it is constructed like a D 6LCR speaker but has a dipolar surround design. D 6SUR provides perfect timbrel balance when the sound passes from the front to the rear channels. In a conventional dipole speaker, you would experience poor bass reproduction due to the phase cancellation effect between the two woofers. We’ve solved this problem by having only one 6.5-inch woofer mounted in the middle of the cabinet. To build a 6- or 7-channel setup, you simply add one or two extra D 6SURs as surround rear speakers.

The flat horizontal design (only 15 cm/6 in deep) makes it very easy to integrate a real high-performance cinema system into a living room.

Technology
D 6SUR is a true dipolar speaker with an array of one 1-inch tweeter and two 3.75-inch midranges in each side of the speaker. In a conventional dipole speaker you would experience poor bass reproduction, due to the phase cancellation effect between the two woofers. We have solved this problem by having only one 6.5-inch woofer mounted in the middle of the cabinet. Naturally all drivers are the same as used in the D 6SUR for perfect timbre matching.
